I gimped my way onto the scale at the gym today, and am 3 pounds above where I was when I last weighed myself - before the marathon. That means I probably gained about 8 pounds, since I've been eating really well for about a month now, and exercising regularly for a few weeks. I guess that's not so bad. By the time I'm back in two shoes I should be back where I was pre-injury.
I do not recommend foot surgery over the holidays/winter. You get fat. You just do.
I'm down to one crutch and it's fantastic. I can carry things. I went down into my basement for the first time in 2 months. I worked at a coffee shop and brought my own coffee to my table. Just a few more days and I'll be able to take the dogs out for walks.

Everything changes on two feet
I got cleared to put weight on my foot yesterday. I'm on two crutches for about a week, then one for about a week, then I start PT. Just being able to put my foot on the ground and stand on it is life-changing. I have been up and down the stairs multiple times today. I went out and ran errands. I did some little things around the house. I probably did more than I should've but so far it's not really hurting.
Today is 8 weeks. It's definitely been easier than last time. Not without breakdowns, but far less than 4 years ago.

Didn't want to get out of the pool
Another great swim. I didn't want to stop. I enjoyed being away from my crutches and feeling strong and whole and normal.
Even pace workout today, but went longer:
6 laps (both ways) freestyle
6 backstroke
6 free
6 back
1 free
so total of 50 lengths. With very minimal rest between sets, pretty much none between laps. Would've stayed longer if I wasn't so busy with work.
Still hate all the showers and the chemicals and the day of congestion and sneezing. But it feels worth it today.
Dr's appt. tomorrow. Might be the day. Might not...

No longer counting days
For W30 or the damn crutches. Both are just kind of interminable and I just have to deal with them. W30 is actually not a problem. It really does get easier each time. My skin looks better. I'm mostly sleeping well, and I'm feeling a bit less squishy, but limited activity sure makes it harder to tone up like I usually do. Being able to get some activity has made recovery better. I've gone swimming three times, and cycling and to my trainer two times each. I had a great swim workout yesterday, where I was able to string together 7 sets of 6 lengths, and did one set of them at sprint (for me) pace. I felt like it was a real workout. Heartbeat up, muscles sore. I miss that so much.
The weather has gotten awful, and the world is sloppy and slippery and everything is harder.
I'm trying to move up my appointment to this week from next - maybe I can get rehab started a few days sooner...
